Dunes
Recounts a solemn year of solitude, introspection and a profound connectedness with nature’s patterns; tides and seasons.
In Victoria, Australia, COVID-19 lockdown laws were still being intermittently enforced into their second year. Kate had moved from the city suburb of Northcote to the Mornington Peninsula coast and what she thought would signify freedom, turned into another year of lockdown - this time even more isolated. Not all bad, as the slowed down pace allowed a time for reflection, healing and a newfound sense of peace.
The Dunes exhibition marks Kate’s first ‘real-life’ exhibition and was held in winter at Ocean Beach Yoga, Sorrento, when restrictions had eased. Friends of the exhibition included warm tonics by RUKI Butanicals, pizza by Stringers Sorrento, bubbles by Quealy Wines, Three Bays sparkling water, floral arrangements by Liz Chadwick, grazing board by Bodie Pearce, imagery by Jimmy Burnett.
This series is a bit more deep and personal - I even wrote a poem about it.
