Kate Shanasy is a freelance photographer based in Blairgowrie on Bunurong Country & Melbourne, Australia.

Kate’s mainly on stills, but she’s an accomplished videographer, published writer, curator of exhibitions with a side of cook shoots/recipe reels too. Known for her natural, intuitive and ‘slightly undone’ curation, Kate likes to balance doco with cinema; breathing life into a scene or letting it unfold exactly as it should. Her insatiable hunger for new experiences keeps her on the move; magnetised by people doing cool good shit and then connecting these people in her path. Whether local or global, boutique or commercial, Kate’s scope of work is diverse. The focus, then, is on choosing the right people to work with, behind the brands.

With published work in Broadsheet Media, The Design Files, Gourmet Traveller, Belle Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and the front covers of Houses Magazine & Domain Review, Kate’s often among Australia’s most influential makers, pioneers, chefs and designers. She works closely with the National Gallery of Victoria and is globally represented by House Of Spoils gallery with headquarters in Los Angeles.
